About FiNC

We’re upgrading how America chooses its leaders.

Right now, three middlemen decide which candidates you ever hear about: big money, party gatekeepers, and media manipulation. They control the money, the access, and the visibility every candidate needs to win. Good candidates are everywhere: teachers, veterans, small business owners, community leaders who genuinely want to represent people. The system is just built to keep them invisible.

FiNC is cutting out the middleman. Think of us as a matchmaker for civic life: we connect citizens to the candidates who actually want to represent them, the movements working on what they care about, and the people building the same world they want. No gatekeeper deciding who you get to choose from.

We don’t pick sides. FiNC is the referee, not a player. Not left, not right, just representation.

The DP Hub (hub.futureis.org) is live now: candidate profiles, a Civic Tags system that lets candidates define themselves beyond party labels, citizen priority surveys, and growing Candidate Discovery. Movements and communities are our biggest growth engine right now, because they bring the citizens candidates want to reach.

What makes this work isn’t just the technology. FiNC’s core focus is the human side: outreach, PR, social media, and building citizen buy-in. We’re not marketing a website. We’re campaigning for a better way to choose leaders. Every candidate with a profile and every movement that plugs in benefits from that ongoing work.

And the system is built so everyone lifts everyone. When a candidate shares their profile, citizens who click through discover other candidates. When a movement drives people to the DP Hub, those citizens find candidates aligned with their values. A different incentive structure than anywhere else in politics.

Our structure matters: FiNC is building something akin to a cooperative-style nonprofit where team members are partners and co-architects in a mission to rebuild how American democracy works.

If you’re ready to help build the civic infrastructure America never got, with citizens and not gatekeepers, step in.

IMPORTANT: How We’re Building: Crowd-Starting FiNC – Please read carefully

To stay independent and free of conflicts of interest, we are not accepting investors or financing that comes with strings attached. Instead, we’re Crowd-Starting FiNC: building it together, from the ground up.

In this early phase, contributor roles are not immediately paid. We ask team members for roughly 15 to 20 hours a week. Our goal is to bring contributors into paid, full-time roles once FiNC is financially able to support them.

That is our intention and the direction we’re working toward, and relies on the success of each team member doing their part to fulfill our specific goals.

This is a build-it-together model, not a job in the usual sense. It asks for belief in the mission and a willingness to help build before all the resources are in place. It’s not for everyone, and that’s okay. The people who thrive here want to help build something that doesn’t exist yet.

Job Description

Our team is looking for a Motion Graphics Artist to help us produce a steady, growing stream of animated assets that our video editors, podcasters, and content creators can drop into their work. We’re moving fast right now and we need volume: short loops, animated graphics, transitions, simple character moves for our avatar, and the occasional fully animated short. The goal is to keep our content library full so the team always has something fresh to pull from.

We’re keeping things intentionally simple at this stage. Our avatar is a basic character with a handful of poses and simple mouth states (open, closed). The DP Hub animations are short illustrative loops, not full animated stories. We want clean, repeatable work delivered consistently. Volume and personality, not Pixar polish.

This role exists for one specific reason: we don’t use AI for animation. It’s an ethical line that citizens’ draw, and it’s the reason we can’t just generate the assets we need. We’re hiring a real artist to do real, original work. No AI-generated frames, no AI-assisted in-betweening, no AI-driven motion. If you’re building your craft and want to keep it your own, this is built for you.

A note on fit: This role is built for someone early in their motion graphics career, or a graphic designer ready to grow into motion. If you’re looking for prestige work or a senior salary, this isn’t it. If you’re hungry, in love with the mission, and ready to put real hours in to build something that matters, it might be exactly right.

What you’ll do

  • Produce a steady stream of animated assets the team can drop into videos, social posts, podcasts, and live content
  • Animate DP Hub moments: citizens adding their name, browsing candidate profiles, joining Discord, taking micro-actions, and other key experiences
  • Animate our team’s avatar in a growing library of basic poses, gestures, and mouth states, so video editors can mix and match for any situation without custom work each time
  • Build branded transitions, lower-thirds, overlays, and other reusable motion elements for the team’s video and podcast content
  • Occasionally create a short fully animated piece from concept to delivery. Other team members can provide still graphics and other assets, but you’d be handling all the motion parts.
  • Collaborate with copywriters, video editors, and content creators so animations match the voice and message

What we’re looking for

  • 1-3 years of motion graphics experience
  • Solid skills in After Effects and the Adobe Creative Suite
  • Ability to draw or design clean 2D assets in a range of styles when needed
  • A real commitment to working without AI, both for the integrity of your craft and the values behind this role
  • Speed and consistency: you can deliver quality work on a regular cadence, not just one polished piece a month
  • Collaborative and proactive: you take ownership, communicate clearly, and iterate fast
  • Hungry, mission-aligned, and excited to grow with the team

Bonus skills (valued for the long term):

  • 2D character animation (this role can grow into character work as our avatar and storytelling evolve)
  • 3D animation
  • Graphic design, logos, memes, and other digital art
  • Other video creation skills (editing, motion design, illustration)
  • Unique ways to express deeper civic and political messages through art

Why this role matters

Animation is the one skill our team is still missing, and we need it specifically because we won’t compromise on the AI question. The assets you build will live across every video we make, every podcast clip, every social post. As FiNC grows and our visual storytelling gets more ambitious, this role can grow with it. The avatar you help bring to life today will become the face of FiNC down the line.

If you’re early in your motion graphics career, hungry to do real creative work, and excited about helping shape the look of a new kind of politics, this is the role.
