At FiNC, we’re not just talking about change—we’re out there making it happen.
That means showing up where democracy is being defended, where people are organizing, and where real conversations are happening.
We’ve been hitting the ground and attending events to connect with everyday people and organizations fighting for a better system.

In January a couple of FiNC members attended their first Badass Grandmas for Democracy monthly meeting. Here’s what one of them took away from the event.
In January, FiNC connected with the spunky, inspiring group – BadAss Grandmas for Democracy (BG4D). They have created a vibrant, non-partisan movement dedicated to restoring democracy and empowering citizens to make a difference in their communities, states, and nationwide. Despite the name, you don’t have to be a grandma to join – just a desire to use YOUR inner BadAss to stand up for democracy and fight corruption.
BG4D began as a grassroots effort in North Dakota, where a small group of women successfully advocated for the creation of the state’s Ethics Commission. However, when lawmakers tried to undermine their efforts, the group stayed engaged, pivoting to a larger movement focused on civic participation and accountability in government. Today, BG4D’s mission includes empowering voters, supporting ethical candidates, and encouraging people to run for office, regardless of political party.
Their grassroots approach uses time-tested methods to amplify their message and combat special-interest money in politics. BG4D walks the walk and talks the talk, standing firm in their mission to create a better government for all.
FiNC attended BG4D’s January meeting and plans to stay involved as their work aligns with FiNC’s goal to fix broken politics. BG4D meets every third Thursday of the month and welcomes everyone to join.

“There are two kinds of people in the world – tight asses who complain about everything; and BadAsses who get things done. Be a BadAss!”
-Dina Butcher, founding member of BG4D
Their private Facebook group and monthly newsletter are packed with valuable resources and updates on their mission. You can join their movement via their website. Check them out – they’re doing important work for the future of democracy!
The fight for a stronger democracy isn’t just about ideas—it’s about action. Hearing from groups like Badass Grandmas for Democracy reminds us that change happens when people step up and get involved. FiNC is here to help make that easier, and we’re just getting started.
